Pudding Club

The FoSM were delighted to present their first Pudding Club event on Saturday 28th November 2009. Members and guests sat down to sample no less than seven wonderful, home made traditional puddings, including Rice Pudding, Spotted Dick, Ginger and Marmalade, Bakewell Pudding (or tart), Bread and Butter Pudding, but the clear overall winner was the Steamed Syrup Pudding.
The evening was hosted by The Pudding Master (John Allen) with an explanation of how the original Pudding Club came into being and a brief run down on each of the puds on offer. When everyone had eaten their fill we were treated to a cookery demonstion by Carol - who cooked a microwaved 'steamed syrup sponge' in just 3 minutes!
The last Pudding Club of the Winter Season was held on 13th March and was a great success. 70 people enjoyed 7 different puddings and the evening ended with a 'Puddingers Challenge' similar to University Challlenge. With the Rector in the A Team the result was a forgone conclusion. Actually they genuinely destroyed the opposition without any help for The Pudding Master.
The Winter Series of the Pudding Club has proved to be a popular social event as well as netting several hundreds of pounds, so two winners then!
The Pudding Club will restart in October so keep an eye out for dates and details.
